Publicist/Lead Generator

This position is partly virtual, partly onsite. * * * OVERVIEW International, Houston-based PR firm is seeking a new forward-thinking Publicist to join their award-winning team! RESPONSIBILITIES  Work closely with skilled artisans and designers to build their companies into nationally recognized brands.  Develop and maintain positive relationships with trade and consumer press outlets.  Write compelling press releases, pitch letters and emails, and other publicity materials.  Lead generation; research, compile and execute targeted media lists.  Conceptualize and develop effective eye-catching materials (print, web, media).  Assist with social media content and client relations as needed. SKILLS  Ability to identify, establish and maintain media relationships.  Firm understanding of how to land media coverage with different types of media outlets: broadcast, print, websites, blogs, etc.  Experience with media database management, story placement monitoring and working with integrated online and social media campaigns.  Extraverted, creative phone skills – a !no fear! approach to cold calls and follow-ups.  Understanding of business objectives and ability to prioritize tasks to maximize results, ability to work on multiple projects and hit deadlines.  Personable and approachable; adept in collaborating with a variety of personalities, departments, and levels of management.  Exemplary organizational and communication (verbal, written, observation) skills.  Proficiency in Mac OSX is helpful but not mandatory. REQUIREMENTS  Bachelor’s degree or higher.  2+ years minimum experience in public relations, business development, design (fashion, media, print or interior).  Demonstrated record of working with journalists and a documented history of successful story placements across print, broadcast, and online media outlets is a plus.  Neat stylish appearance. HOURS & PAY  40 hours per week, 9am – 6pm.  Pay rate to be determined based upon experience and skill set. Include your salary requirements with résumé submission.
