Every two weeks I have to pull an attendance report. In this report we have the employees work date and work time. Please look at attendance 8-19-9-9 excel file.
With this file we open the second excel file. payroll9-8-13. We go to the data sheet and enter how many hours each person worked under which position they are assigned to. The three most important positions is Server Busser and Kitchen. We enter their hours and excel distributes the tips among our staff.
The need from the project is the eliminate the time we spend entering these numbers. So on attendance excel under employee named David, if it say he worked 3 hours 34 minutes lunch shift on 09/02/2013 then on payroll excel under data sheet it should put 3.6 (rounding up) for the shift David worked under that day.
I will give more details to explain the process.
I would be more than happy to help you create a macro to accomplish this. I can also give you quick turnaround. Just send me the rest of the details so I can start

I have been developing applications in both Access and Excel for 20 years with extensive use of VBA. I have developed several applications for Freelance clients, please see Feedback. I am UK based, a native English speaker, available on Skype and currently on UTC+1. Have looked at the 2 files and do not see a problem programming the link but need a discussion first Regards David

Hi,
I can add functions to Excel rather than starting a new database. Embedding the function in Excel will be much easier for having an additional tool to work with. I'm a professional software engineer specialised in Datamining, BI areas. I'm doing this cheap to raise my rep.
