Instructions A “press kit” or “media kit” is a collection of material that will make it easier for a reporter to complete a story on your organization. Having this information available helps make sure that a media person has factual information easily accessible. Each press kit is slightly different, but includes all or some of the following: A press release Background information about the individual or organization History of the organization A fact sheet Bios. on key individuals (either those to be interviewed or principals of the org.) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Formatted logos Photographs (head shots or others) with captions Supporting video links Sample recordings (performer) links Other customized pieces Assignment: Produce an electronic press kit (EPK) that is of portfolio quality. Include: cover sheet with contact information a press release graphics of some kind (logos, photos) at least two additional written pieces (that would be important for your organization) Submit a link to a digital or web-based EPK. At minimum: Consolidate your pieces together into one PDF file. Options: Utilize a template or design as a web page. WordPress and other platforms may be used. What should the topic of the press kit be? Choose an individual or organization that would either want to get media coverage or is already getting media coverage and therefore needs to information available. Something newsworthy about that organization or individual. Ideas: You, launching your new online business.
