I am a Portuguese [PT- European] native speaker with eight years of experience in translations of legal and technical documents from English/French to Portuguese. My experience as a translator goes back to 1986. I was Head of Information Department of Macao Government Press Office (China) for seven years, in charge of contacts with foreign journalists and supervision of daily translations of articles from local Chinese Press to English and, after, to Portuguese. Hi there, I am a native speaker in Portuguese (Brazil) and I can help you translate your text. I think that the key to produce texts closer to originals is to be accurate in Grammar, spelling, punctuation, coherence and cohesion. What is important is that the idea behind the words and sentences is correct, not that it is a direct translation of words. When I translate, I always look for sentences that are closer, but I do not literal translation of what is written. Some expressions do not exist in certain languages. English really doesn’t translate directly to other languages. Sometimes the message has to be changed a little bit in order for it to flow better. It makes a translation so much more awkward to understand if it is done word by word. If you have any questions, let me know. -Augusto
