Python SDMX Restful API

I wish to create a Python JSON Restful API to make access to SDMX databases easy on our site. It will be based on the existing pandas component [login to view URL] I had posted this as part of a larger project but decided to break that down to smaller component projects. The idea is to be make it easy for web pages to access any SDMX datasource and get its available databases, categories, time series metadata and their values. Later, this will make it easy to create a JSON navigator web application. We will need to be able to retrieve the Metadata and time-series values for any series in any dataset using one direct URL from this new API. All new API calls will with use prefix "SDMX" eg "SDMXGetDatasources". We will create a list of JSON datasources with any parameters and store it on the server. It will contain all the information we need to access each datasource including login credentials. { "Datasource": "ECBFX", "Description":"European Central Bank FX", "icon" : http://url......", "Address" : "http://.......", "HasCategories" : True } For each datasource we will want to retrieve a list of optional databases, a category tree (if available for the selected database), all time series metadata ( with paging is > 500 series) for all datasets or for datasets in one category Metadata about all datasets timeseries values for one dataset with date range option if available. We will use paging for lists greater than 50 elements We need to agree a list of API commands we need to return all available datasources, categories, time series dataset metadata and their values The endpoint "SDMXGetDatasourcesMD" will return this JSON tree ANY SRMX component errors (HTTP code and error text) are returned from all new API calls On the server we will have folders for data and images so the API can store/cache its files. We will need a range API calls like those listed below. We will learn as we go but data exploration via this new API is key. We should be able to locate any time series by using the new API to navigate through the vailable datasources, categories, time series datasets in each database. We should support metadata filters and sorting where possible in the SDMX component.
